Valeting or Detailing are roughly the same thing and the reason why I called this place Motorcycle valeting Dublin was because not many people understand what detailing is. Detailing is trying to get the best out of a bike and restoring or refinishing the surfaces. Its not restoration like painting as some people have been lead to believe.
Detailing like any good super hero lives by one creed ” Do no evil” I use a few techniques that are designed to make sure the paintwork is protected from potential damage. The process is a bit of a state secret but it evolves a multi stage process using the right products and tools in the right order.
Firstly I always make sure the bike is cool before starting work as I don’t want the chemicals to react is an unpredictable way with heat.
The bike is always pre washed using a good quality TFR is a snow foam lance. Snow foam is used to soften and break down dirt and helps lift it off the surface. The bike is then washed down to remove this dirt and grime so its not going to cause damage during the washing process. I always use a two bucket method is used during the washing process. This is where the wash mit and cloths are rinsed in one bucket and recharged with soaap and clean water in another bucket. This stops the chances of causing damage to the paint with contaminated wash mits. Wheels, suspension linkages, swing arm, undertrays and exhausts are degreased, detared and delubed where applicable.
At this stage depending on the level of cleaning requsted, OCD of stahdard the bike is either air dryed or goes through other proess including ACF50.
The OCD process takes between 4 5 hours which gives you an indication of the level of effort that goes into it.
